Government by the Worst People – Part 5

INTRODUCTION

On Tuesday, July 25, 2017, the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) calls to a close the 2016/17 version of the Marten, Barrera, Beiser, Evans, McQuary, Payne Kakistocracy.  Their horrible operational, financial and human resource decisions have produced a “Worst Leadership” school year in the history of the SDUSD

This meeting has the capacity to be much worse than the Board meeting on September 29, 2015 when Trustees Mike McQuary and Richard Barrera presented a Proclamation to honor former Trustee Marne Foster on the same night they approved an investigation into criminal charges by the District Attorney that forced her to resign.

Here are the 5 episodes of “FINAL 2016/17 BOARD MEETING DISASTER DUMP” where we describe how Superintendent Cindy Marten and Trustees Richard Barrera, Kevin Beiser, John Lee Evans, Mike McQuary and Sharon Whitehurst-Payne historically dump at least 5 disasters on all Stakeholders.

And then Marten and her Crony Board will run away and hide until September, hoping we all forget.

Disaster Dump #5:  New SDUSD Choice/Busing Motto = “A Quality Charter School in Every Neighborhood”

Section: Superintendent’s Consent Agenda, Item 38 – Ratification of Certificated and Classified Personnel Actions

Just like Custodial Services in the #4 Disaster Dump, buried in Section I, Item 38 are the double-digit layoffs, retirements without replacement and reductions of hours for scores of Bus Drivers.

This is the culmination of the #3 Disaster in our article from October 16, 2016 titled “2016 SDUSD “State of the District” Propaganda Series – Incompetent Supt. Cindy Marten’s “First 5” Disasters of the 2016/2017 School Year!!!”

In that article we described the repercussions of the shortsighted decision by Marten to cut back on the “Choice” time period to only 5 weeks and the reduction of Bus routes.

Here is what we said:

“What it REALLY does is inspire families to look for better options OUTSIDE the SDUSD since they can’t easily get into the SDUSD school of their choice.

A quick, unscientific survey of local Elementary, Middle and High School Charter Schools uncovered that charters have MUCH MORE EXPANSIVE windows to apply for admission.

There are charters in San Diego competing with the SDUSD that open applications for enrollment starting as early as October and ending as late as June!!!!”

In other words –

“A Quality CHARTER School in Every Neighborhood”

Without Bus Drivers and the routes they serve, the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) is essentially forcing those families who do not have the ability to transport their child to send their child to the “Failing School in Their Neighborhood” instead of a “Quality School” in ANOTHER neighborhood or, more likely. to send their child to a Quality CHARTER School in their neighborhood.

We made a prediction in our 10/18/16 article that may still come true:

The SDUSD is losing HUNDREDS of students to Charter Schools each year.  With this “Choice” blunder by Marten, the California Charter School Association may nominate her for “Charter School Innovator of the Year”!

 

When the SDUSD Trustees Richard Barrera, Jon Lee Evans, Kevin Beiser, Mike McQuary and Sharon Whitehurst-Payne vote in favor of this Bus Driver layoff, Marten will have them to thank for the award!!

This is the end of our “FINAL 2016/17 BOARD MEETING DISASTER DUMP” series.

We have attempted to provide our readers the 5 most egregious decisions to be made in the final SDUSD Board Meeting of the 2016/17 school year.  There are many more in the meeting that we were unable to adequately report.

Our prediction is that the Board of Education Trustees will continue in their Kakistocratic ways and approve ALL of the ill-advised Elementary School Superintendent Cindy Marten recommendations.

If they do, as SDUSD Stakeholders, we strongly urge you to remember these 5 Disaster Dumps on Election Day.
