Happy Labor Day to ALL San Diego Unified School District Stakeholders and to all our readers around the world!
As a Parent when thinking of Labor Day we typically see it as an end to summer and the start of a brand new school year. We think about our hardworking parents and family members, many of whom were members of Craft, Professional, Service and Trade Unions.
Labor Day is a cornerstone holiday for our memories of the past and the hopes for our future.
To District Deeds this is a special day for another reason. A reason that makes this the BEST Labor Day in 10 years.
Around this time 10 years ago we posted a 4 part series of articles called “Anatomy of a Failed Superintendent”. If you are interested, here are links to the 4 posts:
Anatomy of a Failed Superintendent – Part 1 – Credentials Anyone?
Anatomy of a Failed Superintendent – Part 2A – Decisions – SDUSD Board of Education
Anatomy of a Failed Superintendent – Part 2B – Decisions – Cindy Marten
Anatomy of a Failed Superintendent – Part 3 – Repercussions
Reading through those old posts reminded us of why we began writing this “District Deeds” blog in the first place.
It was the improper and corrupt removal of our excellent San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts Principal Mitzi Lizarraga.
The first individual in the trio responsible for that corrupt removal action was former Board of Education Trustee Marne Foster. She began the improper removal by intervening directly into a school site on behalf of a family member (a violation of SDUSD Board Bylaws). The second member of the trio was Cindy Marten who improperly allowed her to do it and operationally carried it out. The third member was…
Guess who…
Area Superintendent Lamont Jackson, who tried to manage the school site community discontent by directly LYING to an SDSCPA auditorium full of irate SDSCPA Parents, Students, Teachers, and Community Stakeholders begging to retain Ms. Lizarraga as Principal. In that meeting in July 2014, he said she might be returning in July 2014 when two months earlier, in May 2014, she had already been informed BY JACKSON of her removal.
A Trio of unethical Liars…the “Lyin Trio”
To further prove the removal was improper, 3 months later, by early November, 2014, Ms. Lizzaraga was scooped up to be Principal of the nationally renowned Los Angeles High County School for the Arts (LACHSA). Here is our description: 126 Miles Behind – A Light Year Away! Lizarraga Warmly Welcomed Professionally at LACHSA By County of Los Angeles vs SCPA Parents Get A Robocall
It took 2 years, but partial justice was served to the Lyin Trio…
The San Diego Union Tribune Editorial Board characterized it this way:
On Aug. 24, the Voice of San Diego published an article with the most specific allegations yet about what happened at the School of Creative and Performing Arts, provided by Mitzi Lizarraga, the principal from 2007-2014. It’s previously been reported that Foster forced school officials to write a more positive college reference letter for her son. But Lizarraga said Foster also pressured teachers to change grades and attendance records and demanded the right to choose her son’s counselor. When her son broke rules and was assessed the standard penalty of being denied the right to go to the prom, Lizarraga said she had a meeting with district administrator Lamont Jackson – who informed her that Foster’s son was indeed going to the prom, and that she wouldn’t be returning as principal in the 2014-15 school year. Lizarraga is no longer with San Diego Unified, and she says Foster is “100 percent” the reason she’s no longer principal at the school she loved.
And we summarized it here: NEWS FLASH: San Diego Union Tribune Editorial: Blame Marne Foster’s Enablers, Too
Our initial mission with District Deeds was to expose this corrupt and despicable behavior and force the trio at fault to take responsibility.
Soon, in 2016, Step 1 was accomplished.
Here is the video from our post titled “Marne Foster Conviction – District Deeds on San Diego ABC 10: “SHE’S BETRAYED ALL HER STAKEHOLDERS” (VIDEO)”
However Marten and Jackson were not disciplined in any way for their part in Foster’s improper interventions that they ACTIVELY enabled and neither were School Site Teachers disciplined who acted as spies and betrayed the school community by unethically feeding info to the Lyin Trio and instead were soon promoted to senior positions for their betrayal.
It then took 5 more years and an act of Congress to get rid of liar #2 Marten as we describe here:
We were sure that her record followed her to Washington DC by sending “The United States Deputy Secretary of Education Nominee Cindy Marten EDU-Rap Sheet” to all members of Congress and the Department of Education during her nomination process.
Now, on Labor Day weekend, 2024, the third member of the Lyin Trio has met an unseemly end to his distasteful SDUSD employment.
At long last, after 10 years, Lamont Jackson has been unceremoniously dumped from the Superintendent position because, as a married man with a family, he “made sexual advances” with two former female employees.
FINALLY the last remnant of the Lyin Trio (except for the Teacher Spies), are no longer employees of the San Diego Unified School District.
In other words, 2 of the 3 were booted out because of misconduct and third, Cindy Marten, was kicked upstairs by powerful political connections, but embarrassed by having her horrible SDUSD record exposed when her own Department of Education accused the San Diego Unified School District of putting students in danger of sexual harassment and sexual assault.”.
Here is how San Diego Fox 5/KUSI explained it on August 9, 2024:
The investigation by the department’s Office for Civil Rights looked at over 250 reports and complaints about the sexual harassment of students by both staff and other students from 2017 and 2020, when U.S. Deputy Secretary of Education Cindy Marten served as superintendent.
According to federal officials, it concluded that the district failed to respond equitably to the allegations, as is required by law under Title IX.
A HUGE Labor Day “Lyin Trio” example of employment “Addition by Subtraction”!!!
3 out of 3 GONE…FINALLY
Like we said…
The BEST Labor Day in 10 Years!!!
