SDUSD DISTRICT E SCHOOLS
District Deeds is honored to post the following Open Letter to the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) by Mr. Roosevelt Blackmon in District E:
Dear Neighbors, Allies, Friends and Family of SDUSD District E:
My name is Roosevelt Blackmon and I’m currently the Lincoln Cluster Chair / Gompers Preparatory Charter SSC Chair and a single father of two children who attend two SDUSD District E schools.
First I send my condolences to the George Floyd Family. My heart goes out to your family. Racism is alive and well.
San Diego Unified School District:
Please stop and take your knees off our children necks with unfair racial policy and inequity toward the Southeastern Division/District E.
Over 40 years you have systematically divided this community. When are you going to put children first instead of adults? Your narrative has been “We are for all children.”
Really?
I become ill every time I hear this statement from the San Diego Unified School District Superintendent and Board of Education Trustees.
Talk is cheap…actions speak louder than words!
Neighbors, Allies, Friends and Family of SDUSD Southeastern Division/District E:
We can no longer turn a blind eye to condone this double-talk from the Superintendent and Board of Education. Our community is slowly dying because of disenfranchised Latinx and African American children through continued misappropriation of Title I funds.
For example, as illustrated in the Voice of San Diego article “Fraud Allegations and Fractured Trust In Southeastern San Diego” by Will Huntsberry, we were promised by Trustee Sharon Whitehurst Payne a full investigation of a “missing” $400,000 of Lincoln funds meant for the education of our children.
Ms. Whitehurst Payne said the following in that February 10, 2020 meeting:
“As far as what Roosevelt is talking about in terms of the $400,000, we knew about this a little under a year ago … I referred it to the superintendent and to the attorney and said whatever happened with that money, I was not there, I don’t know what happened, but you all look into it” – SDUSD Trustee Sharon Whitehurst Payne
15 months after the misappropriation and 4 months after the promise of Ms. Whitehurst Payne we have still not received any explanation of where to find the misappropriated $400,000!
And this is just the tip of the SDUSD Southeastern Division/District E financial misappropriation iceberg.
We need to find where ALL this funding for our children has gone IMMEDIATELY before the Superintendent and Trustees spend it somewhere else!
Who will join me in this fight

Thank you for reading…I look forward to hearing from you!!!!
