The Celebration of Nathaniel’s Life was this past Saturday, July 9, 2016 and District Deeds was honored to attend.
Here is the Celebration video shown at the event:
And here is the cover of the Celebration of Life pamphlet:
Nathaniel passed away peacefully on June 15th surrounded by loving family, friends and caregivers.
San Diego Unified Superintendent Cindy Marten with her Quality Assurance Office and Legal Team and 1.4 Billion Dollar Budget don’t have to be afraid of Nathaniel any more.
The first time District Deeds and many of its readers heard of Nathaniel was through a post by Guest Writer Judy Neufeld-Fernandez titled “San Diego Unified Quality Assurance Office: Known Among Parents as Retaliatory and Complicit in Abuse of Children”
It was a story about how a courageous Student, Nathaniel Herrera. and his courageous family tried to get transparency and justice from Superintendent Cindy Marten, the Office of Quality Assurance and San Diego Police Department (SDPD) and instead were insulted by being reported by the SDUSD to Child Protective Services, denied access to an SDUSD Bus surveillance video containing evidence of abuse and finally stonewalled by SDUSD executive connections with the San Diego Police Department (SDPD}.
After the investigation was dropped by SDPD and buried by Cindy Marten and the SDUSD, Ms. Neufeld-Fernandez confronted Supt. Marten directly with the facts in the following letter:
Saturday was a day of inspiration, a day of courage and a day of celebration.
The Celebration of a young Student, a young Man, who refused to give in to the horrible treatment and absolute power of Superintendent Marten and San Diego Unified and found a way to smile again.
The Courage of a family who loved him and helped him live life to the fullest as a warrior for change.
The Inspiration passed on to all of us that will continue to follow his legacy by NEVER giving up on exposing every child abuse, cover up, lie and misdeed by the current Superintendent Cindy Marten, Board of Education Trustees Richard Barrera, Kevin Beiser, John Lee Evans, Mike McQuary, Sharon Whitehurst-Payne, the Senior Staff, Legal Counsel and all their current and future cronies.
Nathaniel’s Mother, Christine Pinkham has a message for all of us…
“I am still alive and I am still standing watch. I am willing and able to share what I have learned with all San Diego Unified families that are seeking justice from the district.” Christine Pinkham
Thank you Christine!
And thank you Nathaniel…you will not be forgotten.
Nathaniel is truly remembered for his grace and strength, not to mention his humor!
I continue to fight for children’s basic rights against abuse in your memory Nathaniel. I look forward to singing and dancing with you in heaven one day.
