According to the Council of the Great City Schools website (http://www.cgcs.org/Page/50), Former SDUSD Superintendent Terry Grier, currently the Superintendent of the Houston Independent School District (the same district that hired Dr. Esther Omogbehin after she was ill-advisedly dismissed by Marten and Foster at Lincoln High School) has won the 2014 “Green-Garner Award” described as “the nation’s highest urban education honor recognizing outstanding contributions in urban education”.
San Diego Unified School District is also a member of the Council of Great City Schools but Elementary School Superintendent Marten was not even mentioned for the Award.
Ironically part of the award is a “$10,000 college scholarship to present to a senior in a high school from the winner’s school system or from the high school from which the winner graduated, at the winner’s choice.”
Given Marten’s failure to keep her promise to deliver a $10,000 scholarship out of her paycheck each of the last 2 school years (See: http://wp.me/p4LD0L-bl) we can only hope that she will use her considerable manipulative and secretive persuasion skills on the Council of Great City Schools selection committee to win the award soon.
Maybe then she can begin to pay off her public relations gimmick…that is if she doesn’t decide to give it to her High School Alma Mater…the exclusive La Jolla Country Day…a private school…for career opportunities.
Thanks! I love reading your posts!! Give it to her alma mater the private exclusive school – ha!! She will be appearing tonight at DELAC
