The Calendar Committee and thousands of San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) Stakeholders including Parents, Teachers, Unions, and Taxpayers overwhelmingly voted against starting school before Labor Day because of the radically increased chance of excessive heat creating safety issues and horrible learning environments.

Stakeholders  provided proof that all of the arguments made by the incompetent authoritarian Supt. Marten for an early school start date were mostly false or outright lies.

The core logic of early start dates based on converting all year round schools to the standard calendar was abandoned because of the $124 million budget deficit disaster caused by Marten’s financial mismanagement…many schools still remain on a year round calendar.

Despite all the SDUSD Stakeholders warnings, concerns and votes Marten jammed the early school start date down the throats of 120,000 Students, some as young as 4 years old, and 16,000 employees.

And now students as young as 4 years old are faced with the Heat Advisory that Stakeholders and District Deeds warned her about for the last 2 years.

Today the temperature is 80 degrees and the next few days it may get over 90 degrees in some areas and in some SDUSD schools with NO air-conditioning.

Let’s all hope and pray that the horrible decision and potential disaster created by Marten by totally ignoring all the facts, votes and recommendations does not injure any SDUSD Student or Employee.
