EMPOWERING PARENTS

 In collaboration with the Parental Readiness & Empowerment Program (A project of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under the Law), the Parent Outreach and Engagement Department (located at the Harold J. Ballard Parent Center) is pleased to present this exciting workshops for ALL families. 

 This interactive workshop is being held Saturday, March, 21 2015, from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm at the Ballard Parent Center, 2375 Congress Ave, San Diego, CA 92110.
 

This event is for families, and will provide support for parents, discussing the important issues affecting their child’s education, and what families can do about it. Translation for the parent workshop is provided in Spanish, and childcare is provided at no cost, along with a LIGHT lunch. They will discuss topics such as:

 Common Core State Standards (CCSS)
 

– changes taking place in English and math

– promote critical thinking and problem solving skills in reading and math

The new Standardized Testing, California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)

– smarter Balanced Tests

– sample test questions
 Although it Is FREE to attend, REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED in order to guarantee your spot, and childcare is limited to the first 40 children. You may obtain additional information in English or Spanish, or download and complete the registration form by clicking on the following links: English or Spanish
 
The optional Educational Consultation Clinic will be held that same afternoon, but you MUST indicate your interest on the RSVP portion of the registration form when you sign up. 
 
In addition, there is also an interactive and fun Youth Workshop for ages middle and high school students being held, in English at the same time.
