The NEW San Diego Unified Superintendent Cindy Marten Motto

District Deeds has received proof of even more health and  safety risk to San Diego Unified School District Student and Employees due to the financial mismanagement of inept Superintendent Marten and her inner circle, senior staff cronies.

At great risk of retribution by Supt. Cindy Marten and her staff, a highly respected and experienced San Diego Unified School District Administrator has provided District Deeds a letter expressing strong safety and health risk concerns related to the elimination of San Diego Unified Police and Administrator positions.

Here is the letter from “Honest Admin”:

Dear District Deeds,

I am currently an administrator in SDUSD with over 3 decades of experience. I have worked at several challenging schools and I have experienced great joy in teaching and running a school.

I write this letter with a heavy heart due to the fact that our district is even thinking about cutting School Police and the majority of Vice-Principals. Eliminating these positions will directly impact the safety of students and the security of our schools.

Have you ever been in a situation at a school in which you feared for your life?

Well, I have.

I have been totally surrounded by young adolescents who have worked themselves up in a frenzy and lashed out impulsively at another student and myself. I was knocked down by a large group of students while trying to help a victim who was being jumped in the middle of the lunch quad. During this incident I was kicked and hit because I was protecting and attempting to remove the victim out of the violent situation.

The only thing which saved the victim and myself from serious injury was School Police and our School Safety Officers.

School Community Officers and Vice Principals are needed on many school campus’ to support school programs and assist with creating a safe and orderly campus. I cannot fathom not having these needed positions on a K-8, middle school, high school, or even some high-profile elementary schools. I am fearful for our students.

School Community Officers and Vice-Principals make real connections with students.

They counsel students on a daily basis. They are the eyes and ears of the campus and can tell when “something is up” and when students are upset during passing periods or lunch.

In addition, School Police and Vice-Principals are there for students who need to talk about personal issues. Eliminating these positions will be detrimental and will possibly lead to unknown dangers on our campus’.

I recommend all SDUSD families talk to their children about the safety fears at their school if you doubt my feelings or the words of this letter. Then you can decide for yourself if school safety should be on the chopping block during a budget cut.

I truly believe that our student and staff safety and health should not be compromised by leadership mistakes that created the 124 million dollar deficit.

Wanting the best for our Students:

Honest Admin

The insightful comments by Honest Admin are echoed by both the San Diego Schools Police Officers Association and the Administrators Association San Diego City Schools (AASD) describing the elimination of Student safety resources at school sites:

AASD is saddened and appalled at the number of administrators/managers/ supervisors who are having their positions recommended for elimination.  Fingers are being pointed in many different directions and many excuses are being given for how the District ended up in this fiscal crisis.  The fact of the matter is that now our AASD members, who are the management team who have given years of dedicated service, are taking the brunt of the budget cuts and paying the price.  And those left behind to clean up the mess and shoulder the burden of the work will suffer — we all know the work doesn’t ever really go away.   – AASD Weekly Update 2/16/17

District Deeds believes that NONE of the dedicated and hard-working SDUSD employees getting fired deserve to be treated this disrespectful way by the leaders of the SDUSD.  They have been willing to give their lives to the betterment and safety of ALL our Students and this is no way for Supt. Marten to treat them for their service.

The financial blundering and mismanagement by Supt. Cindy Marten and her inner circle senior staff cronies along with her enablers – Trustees Richard Barrera, Kevin Beiser, John Evans, Mike McQuary and Sharon Payne is having a devastating impact to many dedicated  SDUSD Employees and will have an even more devastating impact in the future to Students, Teachers, Administrators and Staff at all school sites.

In the future, when a catastrophe befalls YOUR STUDENT, TEACHER, PRINCIPAL or STAFF at YOUR SDUSD SCHOOL SITE, we can all look to Marten, her cronies and the Board financial mismanagement as the primary reason the injury, death or dismemberment occurred.

For the Safety and Health of ALL SDUSD Stakeholders, Marten Needs A Pink Slip…For Herself!

As a mother of two SDUSD students, one who has a disability safety at school is a top concern of mine along with academics.

But it alarms me that school administrators feel unsafe while serving our students. I worry that certain groups of students may be seen as more prone to criminality, especially given our current political climate.
